The president of the Baloch American Congress, Dr. Tara Chand, held a zoom meeting with U.S. congressman Greg Steube Tuesday afternoon and requested him to become the voice for the hapless Baloch people.
Dr. Tara Chand assured the congressman his “help to Balochistan will be in the long term interests of the United States.”
“The people of Balochistan have long struggled for the right to self-determination and this is the main reason we are seeking your help. We hope you will introduce a bill to that effect,” Dr. Tara Chand said.
He said the current round of military brutalities in Balochistan began when Pakistan military generals made plans to give away the port city of Gwadar to China.
“China had helped Pakistan become a nuclear power. Otherwise, Pakistan can not even manufacture a bicycle, let alone a nuclear bomb. In return, the military generals have given Balochistan to China on a silver platter.”
He requested the congressman to press Pakistan to account for thousands of victims of enforced disappearances.
Dr. Tara Chand will also meet Congressman Steube in his hometown of Sarasota in the coming weeks.
